Final Event Young Enterprise Scheme – Unitec
The Department of Management and Marketing hosted the final event of the west Auckland region of Young Enterprise Scheme for the year on Friday 22 October when awards were given to the best directors from across the region and the regional winning team, was announced. The winning team, Jeanius from Lynfeld College are manufacturing and selling a distressed denim fashion range and have exported some of their range to Perth, Australia. They also enjoy a profitable New Zealand based business operating on Trade me.
Jeanius will compete in the national finals in Wellington on the third of November.
Directors’ awards were made in categories such as Leadership, Finance, Production, Operations, and Strategic Marketing. The winner of the overall best director award for all categories was Jess Howell, from team Valediction, another Lynfield College team. Valediction produced school leavers jackets and also a CD of the students self written and performed songs. This part of the competition was also part of the Play-it Strange singer songwriter competition.
Other teams at the occasion were from Marist Girls College, Kelston Girls High School and Avondale College. An Avondale College team, Snaz Products won the Youngest Successful Directors awards.
